Call for submissions!

{UPDATE: Read all the carnival entries from Multicultural Bloggers!}
What’s a ‘blog carnival’?
For those who are new to blog carnivals (I am too), it can be kind of intimidating at first, but as it turns out, it’s fairly simple and a whole lot of fun! Basically, the host (me in this case) posts a “call for submissions” in which they ask other bloggers to submit new posts which follow a general theme. Bloggers then post their submission on their own blogs (Yes, carnival traffic comes to you!) shortly before the blog carnival opens and submit their links and other information to the host. The host, in turn, creates a “carnival” post on their blog that features all the submitted links and summaries about each post and it’s author. It’s a great way to connect with like-minded bloggers and build your readership!
What’s the theme of this carnival?
In the spirit of celebrating diversity and bringing awareness to the growing community of multicultural bloggers, I thought it might be fun to host a carnival of posts that demonstrate multicultural awareness and introduce a variety of blogs and content. So, here it is! The first (and hopefully not the last) Multicultural Awareness Blog Carnival! Topics should focus on the overall theme of multicultural lifestyle (ie. race, culture, language, religion, etc.) and be reasonably ‘family’ friendly (see “Unacceptable Content” below). Here are some great topic ideas to get you started…please don’t be afraid to get creative in your topics!
- diversity
- bilingualism
- discrimination
- racism/equality
- history & politics
- related advice & tips
- multicultural/multiracial identity
- multicultural/multiracial resources
- interracial relationships
- culture shock (religion, race, etc.)
- multiracial/multicultural parenting
- feel free to pursue other related topics!
How do I submit a post to the carnival?
Write a fresh blog post that represents the theme of this carnival and publish it between Friday April 29 – Sunday, May 1. Your post should also include the date and time that the carnival will be published and a link to the Bicultural Mom homepage so that your readers will have the opportunity to visit the rest of the participating posts. Once your post is published to your blog, bring yourself back here and complete the submission form with your post URL. Please complete the submission form by no later than Midnight Central time on Sunday, May 1.
FYI: The carnival post with all submitted links will be published on Bicultural Mom at 8am on Monday, May 2.
This carnival is open to everyone! Bicultural Mom does not discriminate against blog post submissions with grammatical errors (my husband is Dyslexic). If you prefer to have your submission checked for grammar, please make a note of that when you submit your post URL. You can be assured that your content will not be tampered with in any way. :)
Unacceptable Content
Bicultural Mom reserves the right to reject any submissions that involve hate speech, excessive or unnecessary profanity, crude sexual content or otherwise offensive materials. Submissions that do not fall within the overall themes of the carnival or are not posted on an active blog may also be rejected. Sorry!
