I’ve seen images like this on the web from time to time and I have to say, this is one of my favorite thoughts out there. So many things in life can be summed up with this one analogy. It’s not until the coin is tossed and an outcome is inevitable, that you become certain of what it is that you want. Growing from childhood into womanhood…I saw this. From color-blindness to awareness…I saw this. Single to lovingly married…I saw this. Childless to adoring mom…I saw this. It’s not until we’re straddling the borders that we become consciously aware of exactly what we want and need. If you haven’t crossed those borders yet, there’s a good chance it’s because you’ve never tossed the coin. ♥

Good post!! I agree until you’ve pushed the border you don’t know. I could have never imagined how wonderfully difficult it would be to parent a child with special needs until I had one. You know when we were in school we always see the kids who are different and who people want nothing to do with. I feel ashamed now that I never got to know them for who they were. Now I have the chance to know someone who is apart of me and also different :)
Wow…that’s awesome Susan! I know what you mean, I feel like my lack of awareness on so many things caused a lot of misjudgements and less than admirable responses. As a kid, I never knew how to react to or address special needs and that is such a shame. Adry is one of the most amazing people in our family and I look at him every day as such a blessing. We could never be as loving without pure loving individuals like him to show us what really matters. I only wish we knew sooner, but I’m so grateful for the experiences I’ve had with your family and all that I’ve learned. So proud of you for all you’re doing and for standing up for his rights and for special needs kids! Our family has truly been blessed with understanding and compassion. ♥
This is so true! The heart knows what it needs and wants. Some of us are pretty good at talking ourselves out of trying new things simply by over-thinking them. Lovely #WW, amiga. :)
