Straight Talk, Sprint & South Dakota
See the picture of the phone above? I want that phone. ;)
You see, I’m a Straight Talk user and I love Straight Talk, wouldn’t switch. Their prices are rational, it’s prepaid, so no contracts to deal with and the phone service is great! There’s just one thing that’s been bothering me lately. I desperately want a Smart Phone…the one above…and it’s not available in my area.
When I called Straight Talk to inquire, they told me that there aren’t any Sprint Towers in my area, so Android phones aren’t available from Straight Talk in this region. As you can see from the coverage map below, I’m just out of range. *sad face* :( Disappointing, because I think this would have been a great way to connect during all the blog conferences I’m attending this year.

Sometimes I feel like South Dakota is such a desolate state, I mean, nobody ever knows where I’m at if I say South Dakota, the area is very much “Conservative” territory and the values are kind of old fashioned, so most people in the rest of the country have no idea who we are…or where we are…lol. I’m not saying that explains our lack of Android service, but this is just the latest in a depressing line of news.
Anyway, I’ll keep my hopes up for some towers in South Dakota and if you haven’t checked out Straight Talk yet, it’s worth looking into if you like saving. They have a 1,000 minute/text/web plan for $30/mo. and an unlimited talk/text/web plan for $45/mo. Definitely a great value! :)

May I ask where in South Dakota you live? I am interested in straight talk, but don’t want to lose service. The map on their website is small and there seems to be a lot of area not covered in South Dakota.
Wendy, I have heard people say that they get coverage in Sioux Falls, buy I’m reluctant about it because the map doesn’t exactly show service in that area. You could always call them and ask about your specific area. Good luck!
