multicultural familia, new look, updates, culture, race, identity, multicultural families, mixed race families, intercultural families

Morning!  Bet you were wondering where I was…am I right?  Ok, well some of you were way too busy to even notice I was gone, but either way, I wanted to keep you posted on what’s up!

Updates to Multicultural Familia

The past couple weeks I’ve been working on a number of projects, one of those including an update for Multicultural Familia!  Yay!  I’ve had plans to update since March, but I just couldn’t find the time until now…go figure…lol.  So anyway, here’s a quick pic of the NEW LOOK (above), which you can read more about here:

I’m also happy to announce that we’re working on the process of turning our site into a nonprofit organization.  It’s always been “not-for-profit” and community-run, but we’re finally taking the leap to make that official.  In the post above (see link), I explained some of this and you can find out more about our future goals and how you can help here:

Please also help us spread the word by showing some love with our fun blog badges here:

Spina Bifida Twitter Party Recap

Also, for those wondering, our Spina Bifida Twitter Party with Laurita was a huge hit!  Latino Rebels reported that we trended and hit the one million impressions mark!  WOOT!  They also did a TweetReach report for us, which you can view here:

Thanks Rebels!!  ;)

A special thank you to all of our co-hosts @BloggerOfHealth@LBConnect@LatinaMomBlogs@LosTweens@LatinoRebels@OneVoiceRadio@UrbanJibaro and @LATISM!  You can read more about this awesome initiative here:

I’m so excited and proud that Laurita and I had the opportunity to tweet with so many amazing community leaders about #SpinaBifida and I hope we got the word out!  You can be sure we’ll be doing this again next October, so keep an eye out!  ;)

Voting with Kids!

So, you probably already know that I’m a BIG fan of Obama.  Love the guy, love his policies, love his compassionate nature and of course…LOVE Michelle!  LOL.  ;)

My familia and I will be heading out to vote this coming Tuesday, November 6th to give some love to the Obama campaign.  Lily, once again, will be there with us, putting in her vote.  Just for fun…here’s a photo of Lily with grandma just after voting in 2008…

future voter, election 2008, barack obama

…and here’s another of her with daddy at the 2010 midterm election…

(in case you’re wondering, yes…Curious George got his ballot in too)  ;)

Will you be taking your little ones out to vote?  I’d love to hear about it and see your photos!

Watch the Multicultural Familia Facebook page, because we’ll be launching a fun photo share and tweetchat about kids and politics very soon!  :)
