Bicultural Family Blogs

Bicultural family blogs & blogs about bicultural families!

Sharing some of my favorite blogs from bicultural families like ours.  :)  In alpha order…

De Su MamaDe Su Mama {which is Spanish and means From Your Mother} is intended to be a way to connect with an older Alina.  Being of mixed race and bicultural parents, Alina’s journey of personal identity will be unlike that of her father’s and mine.  I want this collection of letters to be a source of identity for my child, so if ever lost in her own, she can look here to find it.

Growing Up BlackxicanI’m a wife to a former U.S. Sailor since July of ’07 (and this is when it all began.) We are an interracial couple (my husband is Black and I am Mexican).  I’ve been inspired to blog my parenting experience, since raising two children with two cultures has become an interesting experience.

Hapa MamaI’ve been blogging at HapaMama since 2008, and I’m also the Race and Ethnicity Section Editor at BlogHer.Like a good daughter of Taiwanese immigrants, I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in Rhetoric and then went on to train at the Mass Media Institute at Stanford University.

InCultureParentInCultureParent is an online magazine for parents raising little global citizens. Centered around culture and tradition, we feature articles on parenting around the world and raising multicultural and multilingual (also bicultural and bilingual) children.

EmpatheiaI write about my experiences in a mixed race marriage (15+ years), raising my 3 biracial children, and my experiences teaching in a small, rural alternative high school.

LatinaishOk, so eating tacos and watching Pedro Infante movies doesn’t make me Latina, but it makes me Latina-ish. You can call me what you want. Poser, wannabe, gringa confundida, but la verdad is, Latinos come in all sorts of flavors.

Me and the MexicanA gringa (a.k.a. white girl) and a Mexican…… married in holy matrimony…… and let me tell you it has been a journey!  Come share the humorous, adventurous, and disfunctional way we live. Everything “white” and everything “mexican” all mixed up like a bowl of guacamole!

Mixed and HappyAn amazing community, including news and resources, for mixed-race individuals and families.  Our vision is based upon a line from Martin Luther King Jr.’s history making I Have a Dream speech: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Modern MamiMelanie is originally from Puerto Rico and has lived in Orlando, Florida since she was a young child. Married nearly 8 years with a 5-year-old daughter and a newborn boy, Melanie is raising bilingual and multicultural (Trinidadian, Puerto Rican, and American) children.

Motherhood in MexicoMotherhood in Mexico is the story of Leslie Limon (me), a lovely gringa, who was born and raised in Southern California.  That’s where I met and fell in love with this good looking Mexican.  Together we created 4 gorgeous kiddies: Hope, Nick, Ashley and Jack.  In October 2000, we decided to move to Hubby’s hometown in Mexico.  Our life in Mexico can be described as a little bit “I Love Lucy” in that I am a fabulous redhead married to a handsome Latino, and a little bit “Little House on the Prairie”, because we live a simpler life.

Multicultural FamiliaAn online magazine that is dedicated to addressing issues that affect modern families. Promoting open and honest discussions about intercultural & multiracial identity, culture, race, ethnicity, language and family.

Multilingual LivingMultilingual Living is a place where parents raising children in more than one language and culture can find inspiration, tools, advice, wisdom and support! It is about living multilingually, in each and every way possible.

Spanglish BabyWe are Ana Lilian and Roxana, two Latina moms, journalists and TV producers raising bilingual (English/Spanish) children who, over two years ago, as our baby girls became toddlers, realized the lack of information available for parents raising bilingual + bicultural children.

This NestDonna is a married and happy mother of five mixed-race children. She and her husband Antonio are college sweethearts who also raised his seven siblings, many with special needs, for nearly two decades. Along the way they have navigated the ups and downs of being a blended, black, white, and brown family. Donna celebrates each day of blessings and embraces her family’s “interraciality” through poetry, anecdotes, and glimpses into her beautifully chaotic life.
